Dear Parents and Students,

I am thrilled to welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year at Lindemann Elementary.  The faculty and staff are busy preparing the school and classrooms for an exciting year of learning and growth.  I am looking forward to hearing about your summer adventures, getting caught up with returning families, and meeting our newest Lions.

Student success is the goal of every staff member at Lindemann.  We believe in a true team approach: Parent-Student-Teacher.  As a team member, I ask for your support and participation by sending your child to school every day, encouraging him/her to read for pleasure at least 30 minutes every night, monitoring homework and progress, and asking your child to share what they learned at school each day.

The parent-student handbook provides important information about our school’s philosophy, procedures, policies, curriculum, and schedules. It is a guide to the way we operate as a school.

Consistent and clear communication with parents is essential to student success at Lindemann. This handbook is only the start. Classroom teachers send home weekly updates.  As the building principal, I give regular updates to our parents and community through our Lindemann Family Blog. Parents may also communicate with the school and individual staff through e-mail or on the telephone. We have an Open

We have our Meet the Teacher Night in September and parent conferences in November. Both of those are great opportunities to become more involved in your child’s education. We encourage you to volunteer in the school as well. If you can’t figure out how, just ask your classroom teacher for more information.

This year, we are very excited to welcome a new staff member to Lindemann:

  • Renee Bergman – 4th Grade Teacher
  • Sarah Andersen – 2nd Grade Teacher (Long Term Sub for Mrs. Lorenz)
  • Susan Crysler – Lunchroom Parapro
  • Wendy Cosgrove – Lunchroom Parapro
  • Nickie Suarez – Lunchroom Parapro

The entire staff at Lindemann elementary wants to make a strong connection with our students, offer them an engaging curriculum, and help them develop and grow into responsible and respectful human beings.  We look forward to working with you and your child/children.

Best Always,

Michael H. Darga

New Line-up Procedures at Lindemann ELementary…

Each year we collect data from our School Improvement Parent Surveys that are taken online.  One of the biggest concerns expressed from our parents is the “parking / drop-off” traffice issues.  As the building principal, it is my duty to provide a safe school environment for our entire school community.  These same parent concerns were also raised at both Bennie and Arno elementary schools.  As a result, the building administration in each building has implemented the following new procedure:

We are instituting an indoor line-up policy regardless of weather.  Each day our students will line up inside the building.  Our students will no longer be lining up outside (except for the first day of school).  Here are some specifics:

  • The first day of school, line-up will be OUTSIDE their assigned door (like in years past).
  • Indoor line-up starts September 8th
  • Doors will open at 8:20 a.m. when our building safeties arrive to their posts.
  • Students should still report to their assigned outside door to enter the building
  • Parents will not be permitted to enter with students/stand in the halls- normal protocol to sign in with the main office does not change
  • Students will enter the classroom at the 8:30 bell after waiting in the hall
  • Breakfast doors still open at 8:05 (main entrance door)

Basically, we will follow the same procedure as if it were raining or very cold ouside.  Our parents will drop off their child to their assigned grade level door anytime after 8:20 a.m. At 8:20 a.m. our safeties will open the doors and let our students into the building.  Students arriving after 8:30 a.m. will be considered late.

Parents, for the safety of our children we ask that you DO NOT visit your teachers classroom in the morning during drop off or after school during release.  ALL parents are to sign in at the main office.  Parents should check in with our building secretary Mrs. Crete or our student advocate Mrs. Bergiel.  If an appointment has been established, Mrs. Crete or Mrs. Bergiel will call down to the classroom letting our teacher know you are here for your appointment.  Drop off and pick up times can be very hectic and needs the immediate attention from our staff members.  This is not the appropriate time to have a conference with the teacher.

We also ask that you please be patient when picking up your child.  We have seen many parents approaching the exit door calling out to their child before that child is ready to be released by the classroom teacher.  We have a process in place, this process is for the safety of our children and staff.  We do not want our students stepping out of line and going through the door without a staff member visually seeing the parent.  When you call out to your child, you are causing a break in our routine and can cause confusion for the child and teacher.

THANK YOU!

Lindemann Staff

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION INFO

Every student loves a good party!  But, when invitations are passed out at school, not every student in that class is invited.  How does that child feel, the one who was not invited?  Will that child now be engaged in the learning environment or will he/she be thinking about the party and why they were not invited?

At Lindemann, we want to create an environment where all of our students are treated equally and each student is part of the learning community.

Parents please do not send invitations to school.  There are many opportunities outside of school that your child’s invitations can be passed out.

Parents, we can no longer accept food items as a gift to the class. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Kylee was one of 21 students who donated their hair yesterday. She was 1 of 2 elementary students to donate and the only student from Lindemann who came out to support the cause. I am so proud of the selfless decision that Kylee made to donate her hair. It takes approximately 20 donated ponytails to make one wig for a child with hair loss. CWHL is the only non profit organization that I know of that donates the wigs made for free to children who need them.

THANK YOU KYLEE!!
